Love
The fact that I choose this theme was because I think this was the main theme that we started to see in the beginning to the end when Daisy was back in love with Tom. The character that I choose is Daisy and the reason is because she is one of the main characters and a lot of main events happen in her presence or because of her. So Daisy is like the queen that was not so important in the first few chapters of the book but when Gatsby met her and told that she should leave Tom and come with Gatsby she just got popular in the eyes of Tom. So the thesis of my paper is that in love either you get hurt or win everything. There are a lot of examples that support my thesis but if you love at the end you can clearly see how Daisy love affected them.
Firstly, the character that almost won everything but it wasn’t his destiny
to win. The character that I am talking about is Jay Gatsby. Jay Gatsby knew where his love lives but he was scared and did not know how to talk or meet with her. And finally when he got Nick to arrange the tea party for Daisy and Gatsby his all life changed and all he wanted was Daisy to leave tom as he said in the book “He wanted nothing less of Daisy that that she should go to Tom and say: ‘I never loved you’” (page 116). From becoming a wealthy popular man he ended up getting shot by Wilson . The main factor for Gatsby’s death was Daisy and the reason why I say that is because if Daisy would not

have hit and killed Myrtle then Wilson would not have became a paranoid killer who wanted to kill his wife’s killer which ended up being Gatsby. So at the end of the day we can say that Gatsby was the person who lost everything in love which I referred in my thesis.
Next main character I want to talk about is Daisy’s non trustable husband Tom Buchanan. In the book Tom is showed kind of the guy who got everything what he wanted even though he was not the trustable person in the book and you can tell that he was not trustable from looking at this quote from the book I love Daisy too. Once in a while I go off on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love her all the time.” (page 138). For example he had a mistress and a wife but when he had a competition for his wife he had already lost his Mistress Myrtle as she was killed in a accident so he turned toward his wife and try to win her but when he almost lost her his lucky charm Wilson showed up who wanted to kill anyone related to his wife’s murder and Tom gave Gatsby’s name and at the end his mistress and her husband was dead and his worst enemy had been murdered by his mistresses husband. So at last he had his wife back and his enemy was dead. So Tom would be the person who wins everything in love as I explained in my thesis.
The last person that I would like to talk about is Nick. Well Nick is the kind of the guy who would not either win or lose in this love game surrounding Daisy. He was just the guy who wanted two lovers to get together but he ended up becoming much more than that as he took the responsibility of Gatsby’s funeral as he thought that he was his

only true friend. Well if we look at Nick and think where would he fit on the love scale if he was a loser or a winner I would say that he is in the middle because he didn’t lose or win anything.
At last I would say that in the book Great Gatsby almost all the characters were in love from Nick To Wilson and everyone of these characters were affected with the love in one way or another. And I think the love really added a lot of the storyline and action
to the book and also I think love was the main theme in the book as without it there would be no Gatsby and in return there would be no storyline to the book.
